Over the past few years, Coamed Foundation has set the goal to complete specialized medical mission trips in underserved communities, primarily in the Americas. We have started serving local communities in Central Florida and in Colombia (South America).
After completing four medical missions, providing four containers with medical and surgical equipment, we alone were able to help over 3,500 patients. It’s amazing to think how far medical mission trips have come since then, and we are all proud of the role Coamed Foundation has played in that achievement.
Today, I’m focused on Coamed’s future rather than the past. We believe we can lead even more medical missions to underserved areas. We want to direct our efforts to implement more ideas, more fundraising, and openness for more nations and health professionals who look at our Foundation as a gateway for a brighter future – helping these families in these underprivileged communities. We have changed thousands of hearts from San Andrés and Providence to Kissimmee, Florida.
On June 17, 2018, Manizales, a city in Colombia, received a substantial amount of donations; 74 hearing aids were supplied to a community that never had access to such advanced technology. Mobilizing our help to specific projects that aim to impact lives is both emotional and gratifying.
Currently, we have been working with a Venezuelan community to give the gift of hope to a group of children needing corrective congenital heart surgery. Arrangements for these surgeries are expected to be made in a state-of-the-art facility in Colombia, but this also serves as an area of opportunity for doctors, sponsors, donors and volunteers to further expand that vision.
We appreciate any and all generous contributions to the Foundation. We certainly need more doctors, more nurses, and more volunteers to unlock new strategies and empower people to find ways to help others.
Un saludo muy especial!!
