Board Members 2017-2019
Andres Perez, MD
Dr. Andres Perez got a medical degree at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogota Colombia on 1987, with a Residence on Traumatology & Orthopedic Surgery at São Paulo Brazil in 1993 and a fellowship in Sports Medicine at University Of Miami in 1994.
He moved to USA on august of 2000. Dr. Perez finished his training on Reconstructive Foot and Ankle surgery at Jackson Memorial Hospital North, on 2006. Dr. Perez develops his practice at the Foot and Ankle surgeon and has been one of the few local Surgeons that perform a Total Ankle implant / Joint replacement.
Also, Dr. Perez develop a growing practices that serve over a big amount of Hispanic and Brazilian local community that cover around 65% of his patient populations. In 2013 Dr. Perez was elected as a President of the Colombo American Medical association and got reelected for another additional period by unanimous board decision.
His vision and actual mission is keep working to lead activities to allow COAMED to impact and help our underserved communities at local level and also at International level. Dr. Andres Perez is the Chairman of COAMED Foundation since 2017.
Fermin Lopez
Fermin Lopez currently serves as the Chair of the COAMED Foundation’s legal department. As an attorney and a former U.S. Army soldier he is dedicated to service to others and is committed to advance the values of the COAMED Foundation.
Prior to becoming an attorney, Mr. Lopez served in the Army’s prestigious 10th Mountain Division, the 2nd Infantry Division in South Korea, as well as a paratrooper with the 18th Airborne Corps in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Fermin was part of many humanitarian missions, including Operation Restore Hope in Somalia, Africa. During and following his military service, Mr. Lopez obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Central Florida and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Florida College of Law, with honors in trial advocacy.
Mr. Lopez has continuously been selected as one of Florida Trend Magazine’s “Florida Legal Elite” attorneys, a Florida Super Lawyer Rising Star and this year earned a spot in the Top 100 Civil Plaintiff Trial Lawyers in Florida by The National Trial Lawyers Top 100 Trial Lawyers. Since 2012 he has been a trial attorney with the Orlando law firm of Colling, Gilbert, Wright & Carter.
Gregor Alexander, M.D.
Dr. Alexander, board certified in pediatrics and neonatal-perinatal medicine, received his medical degree from the Javeriana University in Bogota, Colombia.
Dr. Alexander came to Orlando and became Director of the NICU establishing important programs in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Leader in building Arnold Palmer Hospital and Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies. In June, 2010 the NICU was named after Dr. Alexander “Alexander Center for Neonatology”.
Dr. Alexander serves as the immediate past chair of the Orlando Health Foundation’s Board of Directors. He currently serves as the Chairman Emeritus of the Arnold Palmer Medical Center Foundation after nine years as Chairman and has recently been appointed as the Ambassador of the Arnold Palmer Medical Center.
He is one of the Founding Fathers of the Children’s Miracle Network Foundation of Greater Orlando and currently serves on the CMN Hospitals Board of Governors. He is on the clinical faculty at the University of Central Florida in Orlando and at the University of Florida in Gainesville.
Hector Lozano, M.D.
Dr. Lozano is an Invasive Cardiologist in private practice in Central Florida since 2006. He joined Florida Heart Group in 2008 after completing his residency in Internal Medicine at New York Medical College and his Fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, Florida.
He has served as the Medical Director of the Vascular Ultrasound laboratory at Florida Heart Group, Faculty member of the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Florida Hospital Orlando and as Chief of Cardiology at Florida Hospital Altamonte.
He is one of the founders and current President of the Colombo-American Medical Association, a non-for-profit organization dedicated to attend under-served communities in Central Florida and abroad.
Jenny Paola Manrique, MBA
Jenny Paola Manrique is Founder & Managing Director of Commeta. Jenny is a passionate strategist specialized in creating innovative marketing concepts that sensibilize the consumer towards the brands, products and services of her clients.
In the past 10 years, she has focused her efforts on helping Hispanic businesses reach their full potential, while helping non-Hispanic businesses reach the growing Hispanic markets in the United States and Latin America.
Highly engaged in the community, Jenny has served as a board member in several non-profit organizations and provided pro-bono assistance in marketing, advertising and go-to-market strategies.
Originally from Bogota, Colombia, Jenny holds degrees in Media, Mass Communications & Marketing and a Masters Degree in Business Administration.
Johan Cardenas
Johan Cardenas was born and raised in Santa Fe de Bogota, Colombia and Moved to the United States in 1992 to finish High School at The Military Academy of St. Thomas Aquinas in St, Paul,MN.
Graduated from Commercial Pilot School in 1996 at “Escuela de Aviacion de los Andes (Aeroandes) and returned to the United States to complete Business School at St. Thomas University in 1998. Johan Cardenas obtain his degree in Finance.
Johan Cardenas strongly believes in COAMED Foundation Mission, Vision and Values. As a Relationship Manager/Private Banker for 17 years, Mr. Cardenas is able to provide the banking financial support to the best of COAMED Foundation.
Mr. Cardenas is Board member of COAMED Foundation where he is currently involved as a Co-Treasurer and has been involved in different non-profit organizations in the United States, such as COAMED Association, Pan-American Medical Association, Pan-American Dental Society, Orange and Seminole County Medical Societies. He has been a board director of COAMED Foundation since 2017
Juan Velez
Juan Velez strongly believes helping the kids in need will make you feel better human been as a General Contractor and Mechanical Engineer, has had the opportunity to know the needs of the community closely.
Through his company SkyBuilders USA, he has also had the opportunity to participate in House Rehabilitation programs for people without economic resources through Orange County, City Of Orlando and Osceola County. His mission is to help preserve the purpose of Coamed Foundation and to reach the commitment with the community specially with the kids in need.
Juan Velez was born in Medellin, Colombia. He moved to the United States in 1998. Graduated from University Pontificia Bolivariana as a Mechanical Engineer In 1994. In 2004 he obtained the General Contractor License. In 2012 he served as an Orange County Code Enforcement Board member, appointed by Linda Stewart commissioner district 4.
Juan is also a former Board Member of NAMC, National Association of National Contractors. Juan Velez has been a Board member of Coamed Foundation since its beginning where he is involved in giving support where and when it is needed.
Marcela Ramirez, M.D.
Dr. Marcela Ramirez earned her Doctor of Medicine and Surgery degree from Universidad del Rosario in Bogota, Colombia. She has dedicated all her career to the area of Primary Care.
She also earned a degree in Health Services Administration and a Masters of Public Health and Epidemiology from the University of South Florida. She has held important executive positions in Primary Care Groups in Orlando.
Dr Ramirez was part of the first Board of Directors for Coamed and since then has continued to serve as a Board Member and participated in various medical missions. She was elected to be the first female President of Coamed Foundation in 2021 and she expects to carry on with the legacy of service and compassion that defines Coamed’s mission.
Nicolas Fernandez, M.D.
Dr. Fernandez moved to the United States in 1999 where he validated his medical credentials and graduated from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-UMDJ as Anesthesiologist with Fellowship in Cardiac Anesthesia in 2004.
In 2017 Dr. Fernandez was Board Certified in Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine at the University of South Florida. Being a doctor was his dream job.
Dr. Fernandez is a Board Member of COAMED Association where he served as Treasurer and participated in events and missions designated to provide assistance to under-served communities.
Currently, Dr. Fernandez serves as Vice chairman of COAMED Foundation where he expects to continue serving kids and families in poverty-stricken communities.
Olga Marcela Restrepo
Olga Marcela Restrepo, graduated from Hs from Colegio La Presentacion Medellin and obtained her college Diploma in Design From Escuela Arturo Tejada.
Olga Marcela strongly believes that “All that is done in the service to others has more reward and sense than any monetary gain especially if it is done for the less favored and children who are the most vulnerable and defenseless in society”.
That is why Olga Marcela strongly believes that health and education are the basis of every human being and the importance of this right to be received by every child in the world.
As part of the construction company SkyBuildersUSA, to which Olga Marcela belongs, she has been fortunate to be able to help less fortunate families to improve their way of life through programs such as “House Rehabilitation Programs” through Orange County and the City of Orlando.
Olga Marcela is a Board member of COAMED Foundation and she in involved as Assistant Secretary. She has been a Board Director of COAMED since it was founded on 2017.
Sindy Walters
Graduated from University Of Central Florida with a degree in Business and began her career with Northwestern Mutual in 2007.
Sindy Walters is a Million Dollar Table Qualifier, Lives Leader summit Qualifier and OARS qualifier graduate of Fast track Academy and LEAD Academy, achieved the coveted Pacesetter First 40 followed by the New Achievement Award.
Working with the Hispanic Community in Central Florida, educating the community on financial planning, how to accumulate assets and most importantly how to protect and grow what is important to each person.
As a district Director, in partnership with her team of advisors, they work closely with different organizations in Central Florida; COAMED, Prospecta and Hispanic Bar Association, to name a few.
Sindy C. Walters, is currently a board Director of COAMED foundation since 2017, where she is presently the treasurer of the Foundation.
